Although I am certainly not an avid watcher of TV, I must admit I have a few guilty pleasures – my current being the renovation show The Block. In fact I was somewhat outraged to find that a few weeks ago an episode did not air due to the political stoush between our ex and current prime ministers! The nerve.
We currently rent an old fibro beach shack that has certainly seen better days but has loads of character. High ceilings, picture rails, old wooden floors, a garden complete with vege patch and oh, did I mention the direct views of the Pacific Ocean? I have a real soft spot for this house even though the floors are sinking and I have to combat mold in the summer months and one thing I really pine for when watching reno shows is a decent kitchen.
My kitchen –
· No bench space
· Wasted deep cupboard storage space
· NO DISHWASHER!!!
I love to cook and make do with what I have but there is so much more that could be done with this space. Firstly I would install a Fisher & Paykel Dishdrawer. Designed to fit into small spaces and tailored to suit differing needs, Fisher & Paykel have moved away from the traditional stand-alone dishwasher to create integrated models that save space with four sizes to choose from. This is great for individuals, couples or small households who may not be able to justify the use of large dishwasher or simply have the space. With a 4.5 star water rating, they are a good choice for the environmentally conscious. For larger families who want the integrated look and ease of a drawer system they come in double drawer or wide drawer options.
The trend in integrated appliances for a sexy steam lined look is evidenced in all the current magazines and renovation shows. The Block’s Mat and Kim installed a Fisher & Paykel Dishdrawer that is so neatly integrated into their existing cabinetry that you cannot tell it is there.
