DIY Nautical Cushion From A Tea-Towel

I saw these oversized nautical tea-towels in Lincraft for $2 each and quickly snapped up all 13 of them for the possibilities they held in store.

With the edges already sewn, they are perfect for quick, easy and neat cushion cases, just add a zip and insert and the job is done!

The Easy Cushion from a Tea-Towel

Tutorial

Firstly attach the zipper to the shorted edge, leaving some overhang so that the zipper is not visible once the cushion is finished. Using a zipper foot, I attach the first edge with the zipper closed then open the zipper to attach it to the other side.

Next we need to sew the edges closed. I turn the cushion the right way in and follow the existing stitching at the edges. This takes about 2 seconds.

And thats that! Fill with a cushion insert and you're stylin'.

The grand total cost? (I always love this bit)

Tea-towel = $2
Zip = $1
Cushion Insert = $4

Total = $7

I also made some in blue.
