A Wooli Weekend Getaway
Life has been really, really busy lately. On Thursday night we decided we needed a spontaneous weekend break and two days later headed 3 hours south to the tiny seaside hamlet of Wooli in the Yuraygir National Park, overlooking the Solitary Islands. Whilst I am reluctant to spread word of this place, I felt the need to describe what a special spot it is. I'm sitting in a little old fibro shack, looking at the ocean, surrounded by other fibro shacks that look as though they haven't been touched in fifty years. There are no gutters at the side of the road, you can't get a decent coffee and the nearest real supermarket is an hour away. If there was somewhere you wanted to run away to, to return to simplicity, where no one would find you then this is it. The only things to do here are swim, fish, read and gaze uninterruptedly - just what the doctor ordered. We will return to our busy lives tomorrow, but refreshed and rejuvenated with some happy memories and a renewed connection as family. And you just can't put a price on that.
